FACE PACKS OR FACIAL MASKS
Facial Packs
Face packs are typically used as part of a facial treatment
regime. It is applied as the final step of a facial program,
following cleansing, massaging and steaming.
They may also be used alone once or twice a week.
A typical face pack is a thick paste which is applied
as a thick layer and left to dry for around 15-20 minutes.
During this time, the active ingredients work to improve
your skin tone and color.
Face Pack Ingredients
Common ingredients found in face packs include:
- Honey for hydrating the upper layer of skin.
- Liquorice, bear berry or tomato extracts for whitening.
This is achieved by removing isolated dark marks or
blotches, commonly referred to as age spots.
- Lactic acid [milk] for softening and improving the
overall colour of your skin.
Whilst the terms face pack and facial mask are interchangeable,
I have found that they are commonly distinguished by face
packs tend to dry and harden on the skin, whereas facial
masks stay flexible and are sometimes removed by peeling
away from the skin.
Regardless of name, facial packs and masks are a good
component of a skin care program when used every couple
of weeks.
