ANTI-WRINKLE CREAM
Collagen & Elastin Boosting Ingredients
Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA)
Alpha Hydroxy Acid [AHA] cream or lotion stimulates
cell turnover by helping old cells to shed more rapidly
and replacing them with fresh cells. AHA works primarily
on the epidermis and not on collagen producing cells.
Look for AHA products with a concentration of 8%-10%.
If this concentration is irritating, you can switch
to 5%.
Beauticians and Physicians use high concentrated AHA
(more than 30%) which is not the product that you should
use.
Avoid the eye area or use an AHA cream designed specifically
for eye treatment.
Apply AHA before bed time so any irritation is usually
short term and fully overcome by morning. AHA also makes
your skin more sensitive to UV light, another good reason
to apply at night, or use in daylight with a SPF48 sunblock.
Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial AHA.
Absorbed into the skin cells, the acid triggers new
collagen formation to plump cells. It has also proven
to be very effective in the treatment of acne. Product
Examples: Gly Derm, MD Forte, Z. Bigatti and Super Skin.
Vitamin A [Retinol] & Retin A
The molecular structure of both Retin A and Retinol
is small enough to penetrate the outer layers of the
epidermis, to repair deeper layers within the skin.
Retin A and Retinol stimulate collagen production, helps
to rebuild and repair elastin fibres and has superficial
exfoliating property, minimizing the appearance of fine
wrinkle lines. Retin A and Retinol are excellent in
aiding the repair of sun-damaged skin. Product Examples:
TYK Young Again, M.D. Forte, SkinScience.
Retinol is often confused with Retin-A; Retin A is
by far the most effective of the two, but can be irritating
on some skins. Read about
the differences.
Vitamin A Cream or Serum (Retinol)
Retinol serum also fights and reduces the appearance
of lines and wrinkles and has the additional benefit
of supporting new cells by helping to preserve their
moisture. Retinol based products include:
- Stretinoin (Retin-A)
- Renova (Retinoic Acid)
These anti-wrinkle creams are effective but they can
be irritating and cause the skin to redden and peel.
Copper Peptides
Copper Peptides naturally firm the skin, enhances elasticity,
and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Product Examples:
main ingredient in products by Neova and Osmotics.
DMAE
DMAE is called by experts an instant anti-aging face-lift
by dramatically improving the appearance of sagging
skin. It may also boost the effects of other antioxidants,
and works best in treating: fine lines around the eyes
and above and below the lips, loss of firmness in the
skin around the neckline, jowls, upper eyelid, and cheeks
and helps plump out thin lips.
Pal-KTTKS
Pal-KTTKS is one of the latest proven ingredients
in skin rejuventation, Pal-KTTKS is a quick acting patented
peptide solution. It is as effective as retinol in improving
the effects of photo-aging but lacks the side effects
often associated with retinol.” Product Examples:
StriVectin-SD and Revelation by TYK
