Permanent Dermal Fillers
Permanent dermal fillers are relatively new to the market.
They contain additional minute synthetic spheres which
help maintain the plumping affect of the wrinkle.
The most popular brands of permanent dermal fillers are:
Aquamid™
Made up of 97 - 98% being water in 2 - 3% of cross-linked
polyacrylamide gel polymer. Polyacrylamide is also found
in soft contact lenses, and tissue implant material.
It is soft and uniform when injected under the skin.
Being mostly water, the body accepts the gel readily
and forms a thin membrane around the implant which helps
to keep it in place; as the gel is very elastic it moves
with all facial expressions.
Artecoll®
Containing Bovine dermal collagen plus PMMA microspheres
has been implanted in more than 200,000 patients worldwide.
Bio-Alcamid™
Is a gel polymer comprising exclusively of networks
of alkyl-imide groups (approximately 4%) and nonpyrogenic
water (approximately 96%). Unlike many other injectable
fillers currently available, Bio-Alcamid™ can
be used to correct small or large areas, including liposuction
deficits. The LIP form is ideal for correcting the lip
outline, being imperceptible to the touch.
Evolution
Like Outline, is made from absorbable Polyacrylamide
gel with the addition of microscopic, porous spheres to
create a permanent result. Because the microscopic spheres
held within the gel are porous and attract the pro-collagen
molecules right through the pores, they are stabilised
within the tissues and provide the bulk necessary where
there is tissue loss. Evolution is injected deep within
the tissues and is best used for nose to mouth lines.
